History and Hiking at the Fitch Mountain Preserve

We’ll join Ted Calvert, President of the Healdsburg Literary Guild and Auther of  Legacy of Fitch Mountain for a history and hiking tour of Fitch Mountain.We’ll be hiking to the top of the mountain, stopping frequently for stories along the way.  We’ll be hiking to the top of the mountain, stopping frequently for stories along the way.  Moderate to steep terrain, approx. 3 miles.

When:    We’ll meet at 10:00 AM, check for dates at http:/landpaths.org/events  Thanks for your promptness!  We plan to return to our cars no later than 1:00 PM.

Location/Lugar:    Fitch Mountain Preserve.  Meet at the parking lot for the Villa Chanticleer Dog Park.  908 Chanticleer Way, Healdsburg, CA 95448.

What if it’s raining?      We will proceed in a light rain. In the event of heavy rain or wind please call LandPaths at 707-544-7284 (then press 1)  after 8 AM on the morning of the hike.  If plans for the workday have been changed, we’ll leave a special outgoing message.  Otherwise, the event will proceed as planned.  

Directions From Highway 101, Take the Dry Creek exit and go east. Turn Right (north) on Healdsburg Avenue. Turn Left (east) onto Powell  Turn Right at Chanticleer Way (There is a large Villa Chanticleer sign) Make the 1st left at the “Playground and Parking” sign. Park on right side of parking lot What to bring Water bottle, lunch/snacks, sturdy shoes or boots, weather appropriate clothing in layers, hiking poles, camera, your favorite wildflower guide, & binocs if you wish.

Details, Details You will be asked to sign a liability waiver. There is a port-o-potty We plan to stay together as a group & leave together as a group. We ask that you leave dogs at home.

More About Ted Calvert:  

Ted has been a resident of Healdsburg since 1980- considered then a farm town but a great place to raise a family. Ted raised his two boys in Healdsburg and enjoys being a Grandpa to and interacting with his four grandchildren.

Ted is currently President of the Healdsburg Literary Guild, Past President of the Healdsburg Museum & Historical Society, and a member of the Healdsburg Rotary Club. He is an author and historian.

Ted enjoys cycling the Sonoma County roads, hiking its trails and continues to actively give back to his community. While Ted enjoys world travel, he relishes coming home to the Sonoma County lifestyle, in all its seasons.
